It was a bright breezy morning as 25 members gathered at Toft Wood. Rayna highlighted the village’s Viking roots with the old Norse origins of its name being “homestead on the hill”. Toft sits on the Greenwich Meridian Line and several walking routes including the Greenwich Meridian Trail are accessible from here. We were afforded some lovely views along the route led by Paul. Hardwick Wood did not disappoint with a beautiful early showing of bluebells despite it being surprisingly dry underfoot. We enjoyed our coffee break in lovely sunshine before heading past Caldecote church down to Bourn brook following its course back through Toft village.
