Civil Liability Insurance

The Club operates under a civil liability insurance scheme provided by the Hiscox insurance company to organisations affiliated to The Ramblers.  Civil liability insurance contains protection for organisations from many types of liability and includes damage to property that arises out of activities by a group or organization.

Privacy and GDPR

As of 25th May 2018, the Club has to comply with the General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR) of the European Union.  We are committed to protecting your privacy and maintaining the security of your data.

We do not pass any personal information to third parties.

Any personal information you provide we will treat in accordance with current UK Data Protection legislation.  By providing personal data you consent to its processing as described in this policy below – for example to publicise a walk online on our walks programme.

We request limited personal information on the Comberton Ramblers membership application form completed by anyone joining the Club.  The information is:

Name, home address, postcode, home phone number, mobile number, email address.

We use this information only to communicate with members for the sole purpose of organising Club events and facilitating Club administration. Access to personal data is restricted to those members of the Committee with a valid reason and on a need to know basis.  Limited information, typically just an email address, may be shared, for example, if a member has indicated that they are prepared to lead a walk or organise a social event and need to be contacted.

The above personal information is held only on the computer of the Secretary of Comberton Ramblers. A member can freely request at any time to examine the data held on them by the Club Secretary.  If a member leaves the Club their personal information is deleted immediately from our database.

The Treasurer holds records of who has paid membership fees in the current year. The Treasurer currently takes membership fees as well as payments for the Club Christmas lunch / Social Events by bank transfers (BACS).

Our website (combertonramblers.org.uk) has information on walk leaders for each of our walks in the current Walk Programme.  We only provide the first name of each walk leader and their mobile number on the Walks Programmes.

On the Calendar we list recent and upcoming walk events and for each walk we provide the first name and the mobile number of the two Walk Leaders.  The mobile number allows members interested in the walk to contact the  Walk Leader.  We delete all calendar events within 3 months after the event.

Members submit photographs from walks to circulate within the Club.  The website holds a selection of these photographs that can be viewed by anyone but the images are still the property of the members who submitted them and should not be used outside the website without acknowledgement.
