The Club was established in 1974 by a group of Comberton families interested in maintaining local footpaths and exploring the Cambridgeshire countryside. In recent years the Club has broadened to include members from further afield and although many of our walks are still focussed on Cambridgeshire, we do also venture into the neighbouring counties of Bedfordshire, Hertfordshire, Suffolk, Essex and even Northamptonshire.
The main focus of our activities is the fortnightly Sunday walks of around 4-6 miles, with occasional longer walks up to 8 miles. The walks are generally over fairly easy terrain and not too taxing. In most cases we will finish the walk with lunch or a drink at a local hostelry or cafe.
We are a sociable group with a wide mix of backgrounds, and we welcome all age groups. If people are interested in the Club we encourage trying a couple of free walks with us to get a feel for the group. If you want to then join us we currently have an annual membership fee of £10 which can be paid, preferably, as a BACS payment or, if needs be, as cash or a cheque. Stella our Secretary can be contacted through the website Contact page for Bank payment details. If you are already a member, Stella will email bank details before the end of the Spring walking programme.
We are affiliated with the walker’s national organisation The Ramblers and in 2018 we became linked with The Walking Partnership – more detail here.
