Hinxton walk

The morning started with heavy rain for many of us as we made our way to our meeting point at the Red Lion.  By the time we had our boots on the sky had cleared and 24 intrepid walkers assembled.  Peter our leader today highlighted some of the history of Hinxton Hall.  Arriving in Ickleton we passed the ancient church of St Mary Magdalen with its now single Tudor Sanctus Bell and home to a rather unique Norman painted frieze .  All the rain that had fallen recently ensured the river Granta was flowing well by the time we reached Hinxton water mill and we even found a spot for a game of Pooh-sticks.  Thanks to Gill our back marker today.
