Our Summer Walk Programme commenced today with a 5 mile from Whitwell, Herts. 16 members joined us and our leaders were Lesley and Alan. The route took us along shady lanes and through woods to reach St Paul’s Walden, Bury. This was the childhood home of the late Queen Mother. Whitwell is famous for its watercress beds. After our picnic lunch we enjoyed the delicious cakes that were provided by Gill and Tina. Our chair had 5 slices !!
