It was a bright sunny morning as 17 members gathered outside the Red Cow. Eddie our leader today asked that people let Committee members know if they will lead a walk as the 2027 Walk programme was being compiled. (Annette has a collection of resources for planning routes and Committee members are also available to offer support.) We then headed off towards Duddenhoe End via the Church and Chiswick Hall enjoying the early autumn colours and lovely views across the gentle rolling hills. We took our coffee break at the charming Hamlet Church. Originally a tithe barn, the Squire Parson of Lofts Hall converted it into a church in 1859. Unusual in having an altar along the East wall, the church was in a very poor state by 1990 and was restored thanks to the efforts of villagers remaining as one of only two thatched churches in the Diocese. We made our way back towards Chrishall past several stud farms stopping to watch some of the horses enjoying the by now quite warm sunshine. Thanks to Eddie and Denis our back marker.
