Low cloud and a gentle breeze eased promised high temperatures for the 17 walkers who gathered on Weston village green. Lesley our leader today explained the importance of the Pryor family in Weston since the 19th Century taking on Weston Estate and remodelling local estates. The family played a significant role in shaping the local community and pioneering regenerative no tillage farming practices. Lesley also mentioned the legend of Jack O Legs renowned for his great height and as a Robin Hood figure locally. Our walk took us through some flower strewn fields including Weston Nature Reserve affording lovely views across gentle hills and offering welcome shade. We took our break on the edge of a field of blue chicory in full bloom before returning past 12th Century Holy Trinity Church resting place of Jack O Legs. Thanks to Lesley and to Alan our back marker.
