Long Melford Away Day

It was a sunny Sunday morning for our Away day to Long Melford in Suffolk. The day was broken up in 2 parts with a 6.2 mile walk in the morning with an option of a 3 mile walk in the afternoon. In all 20 members attended. Long Melford has the longest High Street in the country – 2.5 miles. The village is home to many historic buildings, Kentwell Hall which was built between 1520 and 1550 by the Clopton family and Melford Hall which was visited by Beatrix Potter on many occasions. After our picnic lunch some members visited Melford Hall. Three members joined Peter for the afternoon walk which took them down into the village and back up to Kentwell Hall returning via the Holy Trinity Church.
