Fowlmere Walk

The clocks went forward for British Summer Time but whilst dry today there was a chill breeze to contend with as 23 walkers gathered at The Chequers. Christine gave a short talk about the area mentioning the renowned annual Thriplow daffodil festival which draws huge numbers of visitors.  We headed out towards the southern edge of Thriplow following paths now decked in flowering buckthorn before seeing some of the swathes of daffodils planted around Thriplow. We stopped for our coffee break to take in views towards Duxford, a small pill box nearby a reminder of more challenging times. The skies began to threaten but we made it back to Fowlmere past some lovely Spring gardens along the way.  Thanks to Christine and to Tina our back marker today.
