Cavendish-Clare Walk

Many thanks to Cynan for leading the walk today.  It was a very hot day but 8 members attended (7 walked).

Cavendish is one of the prettiest villages in Suffolk – it is famous for its thatched cottages, picturesque Village Green and historic St Mary’s Church.  The walk started from in front of the Five Bells pub (alongside the church) and gently ascended to the ridge above the Stour Valley with fine views of the undulating countryside before descending into the attractive village of Clare  and the very popular Clare Castle Country Park which afforded us a halfway stop for refreshments and some welcome shade.  Pictures as usual are on the Gallery page.

A walk along the Stour river valley led back to Cavendish where Tina and Stefanie provided delicious cakes.  We also had a Morris Dancing team performing for us over our picnic lunch (again in the shade) so an entertaining end to the walk.
